Emirates Bio Farm is located in Al Ain, around one hours drive from Dubai. It is a really lovely day out for families with a lot to see and do – a great way to explore an organic farm and learn all about sustainable farming.
On arrival we booked to take part in the tractor farm tour, which runs daily on the hour from 9am, lasting around 45 minutes. Jumping on the back of the tractor, we were taken around the farm and provided with an insightful overview of organic and sustainable farming methods, and an introduction to the type of vegetables grown at the farm. It was really informal, educational and engaging for the children with questions and answers.
We were then invited to harvest vegetables ourselves, which was definitely a highlight for my curious two year old who loves to explore in nature! We collected a handful of kale, carrots and beetroot to take home. I suggest you take a bag to put your vegetables in as these weren’t provided.
Following the farm tour, we spent time in the play area where children played happily on the large tractors, and fed the goats, much to my son’s amusement.
The onsite Farmer’s Table Restaurant serves wholesome, organic food at reasonable prices. We enjoyed lemon cake and carrot cake, which were both wonderful, but the potato manakeesh proved the biggest hit!
You will also find shaded areas outside to eat, along with a farm shop where you can stock up on produce grown at the farm.
It was a great day out and thoroughly enjoyed by myself, my husband and our active, curious toddler.
